Experience
Dr Daniel Su is an ophthalmologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
In addition to specialising in cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment (including laser and surgery), Dr Su treats all types of eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes and childhood myopia.
He has performed different types of glaucoma surgery including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr Su was previously a senior consultant and the deputy head of the training and education department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He was also a senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
He was the associate programme director of the SingHealth Ophthalmology Residency Programme and helped to establish the Ophthalmology Residency Program Training Syllabus in Singapore.
He is currently a visiting consultant at the glaucoma department at SNEC, where he teaches ophthalmologists-in-training glaucoma diagnosis, laser and surgical techniques, as well as cataract surgery.
Upon completion of specialist training in Singapore, Dr Su underwent advanced glaucoma fellowship training at Duke Eye Centre (Duke University Health System) in North Carolina.
He has been involved in many ophthalmology research studies and clinical trials and authored several publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. He previously held a research grant from the National Medical Research Council to investigate the role of vascular disease in the development of primary glaucoma.
He has also contributed several book chapters included in colour atlases and textbooks of ophthalmology. He has given several lectures and taught in many teaching courses at local, regional and international conferences.
Dr Su has received several accolades including the Singapore Health Quality Service Award, the NHG Eye Institute – Alcon Merit Prize (Senior Category) and the SNEC Residency Best Cataract Surgery Teacher Award. He is also the recipient of Courage Star, awarded for clinical duties during the SARS outbreak in 2003, and the Hoops Medal for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1999.
