Experience
Dr David Chin is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He has a special interest in rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery, as well as the management of nasal polyposis and its impact on the upper and lower airways. He is also experienced in uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, a surgical procedure used to remove tissue and/or remodel tissue in the throat.
He was previously the director of the rhinology service at Changi General Hospital (CGH), and was a visiting specialist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and visiting consultant at Ng Teng Fong Hospital. He continues to serve as a visiting consultant in the department of otolaryngology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dr Chin pursued advanced rhinology training with the Sydney Rhinology Fellowship, a programme accredited by the American Rhinologic Society. Dr Chin trained in functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), endoscopic skull base surgery and nasal airway surgery, including functional rhinoplasty.
In addition to his previous positions as core faculty in the SingHealth ENT residency programme and as a clinical senior lecturer with the National University of Singapore, Dr Chin continues to serve on the Standard Setting Committee for otorhinolaryngology postgraduate medical examination and was also appointed as an examiner for specialist exit examination in otorhinolaryngology.
Dr Chin has been actively involved in teaching locally and regionally. He taught the Singapore Allergy & Rhinology Course, and FESS courses organised by CGH, Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital, National Healthcare Group, Chulalongkorn University, Khon Kaen University and International Islamic University Malaysia. In 2016, he represented the Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Singapore at the Global Otolaryngology Forum at the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery annual meeting.
He has over 20 research publications, covering subjects from nasal polyposis to a novel approach for endoscopic drillout of the frontal sinus, a technique used for severe recurrent frontal sinus disease. In recognition for this work, he was awarded the Yahya Cohen Memorial Lectureship in 2013 by the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He is a reviewer with the Singapore Medical Journal, Laryngoscope and the American Journal of Rhinology and Allergy, and sits on the executive board of the Asian Research Symposium in rhinology.
