  • What is Laryngovideostroboscopy?

Laryngovideostroboscopy is an important diagnostic tool that allows an ears, nose and throat (ENT) specialist to visualise the vocal folds in slow motion. It uses a stroboscopic lamp, which creates regular flashes of light. A flexible tube is inserted in the back of the mouth or through the nose and into the throat, after application of local anaesthetic. Video pictures are then recorded while talking, singing or whistling.

  • Laryngovideostroboscopy is used to diagnose voice disorders. During your laryngovideotroboscopy, your doctor will determine your situation and whether voice therapy, surgical intervention or a watch-and-wait approach is needed.
