Laryngovideostroboscopy

  • What is Laryngovideostroboscopy?

Laryngovideostroboscopy is an important diagnostic tool that allows your ENT specialist to visualise your vocal folds in slow motion. It uses a stroboscopic lamp, which generates regular flashes of light. A flexible tube is inserted in the back of the mouth or through the nose and into the throat, after application of local anaesthetic. Video pictures are then recorded while you are talking, singing or whistling.

  • Laryngovideostroboscopy is used to diagnose voice disorders. During your laryngovideotroboscopy, your doctor will determine your situation and whether voice therapy, surgical intervention or a watch-and-wait approach is needed.
