After you leave the hospital, you are required to have regular follow-ups with your doctors. Also at home (or in the hotel for foreigners), you need to closely monitor your temperature and if you have a fever you need to contact your doctor straight away. You also need to monitor your blood glucose especially if you have diabetes because some transplant medicines may raise your blood glucose levels. In addition, you need to watch your urine output and if you notice that it is reduced then you should contact your doctor.
After your discharge from the hospital, you will be given scheduled appointments to regularly evaluate your condition. Your immunosuppressant drugs and other medications doses will be adjusted accordingly. If you are a foreigner, you will need to stay for about 3 weeks in Singapore, depending on your condition and recovery. Your donor might need to stay for about 3 to 4 days following the discharge from the hospital. Once you return to your home country, your need to follow up with your local doctor immediately.
