Proton therapy delivers powerful treatment with pinpoint accuracy, targeting tumours while shielding healthy tissues. It's the smarter way to heal, designed for those who demand the best.
Proton therapy for head and neck cancer targets the tumour with precision, helping reduce damage to healthy areas like the throat, jaw and salivary glands. It's often used when head and neck radiation therapy is risky or repeated treatment is needed. This can help minimise side effects of radiation to the head and neck.
Limits collateral damage to heart and lung tissues
Proton therapy may be considered for spinal sarcoma or soft tissue sarcoma, especially when tumours are near vital organs such as the spine, chest wall or pelvis. It can also be used in cases of Ewing sarcoma, where precise targeting is important. Proton therapy Ewing sarcoma treatment aims to protect surrounding healthy tissue while effectively managing complex tumour locations.
Proton therapy offers precise treatment for brain cancer, including glioblastoma, medulloblastoma, and glioma, helping to protect healthy brain tissue. This approach may help reduce side effects and preserve cognitive function in patients with brain tumours, especially in children and older adults.
Some patients with lymphoma, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, may benefit from proton therapy lymphoma treatment, particularly when the cancer is located near the chest or neck. Proton therapy can help reduce long-term side effects by minimising radiation exposure to the heart, lungs and surrounding healthy tissue.
Proton therapy for liver cancer may be used to treat primary liver cancer or liver metastases, with the goal of limiting radiation to healthy liver tissue. This makes proton therapy for liver metastases a potential option when other treatments pose a higher risk to nearby organs.
Proton therapy for prostate cancer may be suitable for men seeking an alternative to surgery, particularly when preserving surrounding tissue is important or surgery is not recommended. Compared to standard prostate radiation, proton radiation for prostate cancer may reduce side effects by limiting damage to surrounding structures, which may help preserve urinary and sexual function.

Your doctor will provide a specific schedule tailored to your needs. Some sessions may be shorter if a break is needed. If so, speak with your radiation therapist about possible treatment changes. The treatment is typically started after the planning process is finished.
Each treatment session typically lasts about 30 to 40 minutes inclusive of patient preparation, patient positioning, image verification, and delivery of proton beam.
If you are unable to attend for your treatment on any day for any reason, let your medical team know as soon as possible. They will reschedule the missed session if needed, and any changes to your overall treatment plan will be discussed with you.
