质子治疗与传统放射治疗有何不同？
传统放射治疗使用 X 射线将辐射递送到肿瘤及其路径上的所有组织。这意味着肿瘤近端的健康组织可能会受到大量辐射，并可能发生损伤。
虽然大多数成人可以吸收此类辐射，其身体可以修复损伤，但如果暴露在心脏或大脑等重要器官附近，则可能带来额外的风险。由于儿童的身体仍在成长发育，暴露于辐射可能导致听力和视力丧失、心脏疾病或继发性癌症等疾病，因此传统放射治疗也不适合儿童。
质子束具有较少的入射剂量并且没有出射剂量。因此，质子束能够不损伤周围的器官和健康组织，尤其是位于肿瘤后部的器官。此外，与 X 射线相比，质子束可以得到更精确地控制，从而使专科医生能够安全地向肿瘤递送更高剂量的辐射。
