Experience
Dr Chan Po Fun is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
She subspecialises in echocardiography and heart failure. She uses strain-imaging for detection of subclinical cardiac conditions and 3D techniques for assessment of structural heart problems. She is well-versed in haemodynamics-tailored therapy, iron-repletion and long-term care of heart failure patients.
She also has special interests in female-centric heart conditions such as cardiotoxicity in breast cancer treatment and heart failure preserved ejection fraction.
Prior to private practice, Dr Chan was the director of the cardiac diagnostic laboratory and a clinical lead of heart failure services at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH). She is currently a visiting consultant at NTFGH.
She graduated from the National University of Singapore. She was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Award, and she opted to further her training at the National University Heart Centre in Singapore so she could simultaneously develop the Jurong Health Campus’ heart failure services. She received her testamur from the National Board of Echocardiography, USA, and certification in heart failure from the Heart Failure Association (European Society of Cardiology).
She is trained in transthoracic, transesophageal, pharmacological and exercise stress echocardiography.
Beyond her clinical work, she was a faculty member of the cardiology senior residency programme at the National University Hospital.
Dr Chan is a recipient of several Service Quality Awards.
