Experience

Dr Chuah Sai Yee is a dermatologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.

She sees all general skin conditions for adults and children, with a special interest in pigment, hair and nail disorders, and non-invasive skin imaging for skin cancer screening. She performs laser treatment, aesthetic skin rejuvenation, and surgical removal of skin cancers and benign skin lesions.

Prior to joining private practice, she was a senior consultant and head of the pigment disorders clinic at the National Skin Centre (NSC). She continues to be a visiting consultant there.

Dr Chuah graduated from the University of Glasgow, UK and undertook postgraduate medical training in Scotland during which she obtained her membership to the Royal College of Physicians, UK. Her interest in dermatology got further ignited at dermatology specialist training centres in Scotland.

During her training in the UK, she attained the diploma in dermatology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK and the specialty certificate in dermatology from the Royal College of Physicians, UK.

She went on to obtain the advanced specialist training in dermatology at NSC. She received the Health Manpower Development Plan award to further her training in dermatology at Hôpital l'Archet, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice, France and Hôpital Saint-Louis, France.

While at NSC, Dr Chuah started the earliest non-invasive skin imaging clinic for skin cancer screening using reflectance confocal microscopy.

She was a principal investigator in many research projects and published more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and authored over 20 book chapters in dermatology.

Dr Chuah was also an examiner for senior residents annual clinical assessment at NSC and for the graduate diploma in family practice dermatology in Singapore.

She is a recipient of several NSC Service Champions Awards and the NSC Long Service Award.
