  • Dr Chew Soo Ping is a general surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in the management of gall stones disease and diseases of the bile duct, liver and pancreas, including cancers of the digestive system – stomach cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, bile duct cancer, gall bladder cancer, colon cancer and small bowel tumours.
  • Dr Chew offers minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery for patients who are suitable for keyhole operations. He routinely performs laparoscopic operations for gall bladder stones disease, hernia in the abdominal wall and inguinal (groin) hernia, appendectomy, adrenalectomy as well as splenectomy. Laparoscopic operations for resection of tumours in the stomach, liver, pancreas and intestine can be done in selected patients when deemed feasible.
  • Dr Chew obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore. He went on to take up training in general surgery and obtained a fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was awarded a scholarship from the Singapore Government for specialisation training in hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgery as well as liver transplantation in the renowned Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queensland Liver Transplant Service in Brisbane, Australia.
  • Upon his return to Singapore, Dr Chew was appointed Chief of Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he helped to develop the subspecialty service in the hospital. During this time, he was also the deputy head of the Department of Surgery, chairman of the Endoscopy Committee and Endoscopy Centre as well as founding member of the Centre of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
