  • Dr Wee Siew Bock is a general surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disorders, with an emphasis on minimally invasive diagnosis techniques and early treatment of breast cancer with breast conserving surgery.
  • Dr Wee is a graduate from the medical school of the National University of Singapore. He completed his post-graduate training in General Surgery when he was conferred both the Master of Medicine (Surgery) degree from NUS, as well as the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland in the same year in 1990. As a trained specialist in General Surgery, he continued to pursue his areas of sub-specialty interest in Breast Cancer and Endocrine Surgery, which included an overseas training stint in Sydney, Australia that was sponsored by the Singapore Government in the form of a national surgical training scholarship-award.
  • As a trained Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, Dr Wee returned to restructure and head the Breast & Endocrine Surgical Service in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was involved in reorganising the clinical Breast service there, and contributed immensely to pioneering work in the evolving arena of image-guided percutaneous breast biopsy in the management of breast diseases. He was the first local surgeon to incorporate image-guided Mammotome-biopsy into the Breast Service of a restructured hospital.
  • In 2000, Dr Wee was appointed Chief of Breast Surgery at the National Cancer Centre, and served as a Visiting Surgeon to Singapore General Hospital, Kandang Kerbau Women and Children's Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, all large public hospitals. His appointment at NCC allowed him to look into organizing, coordination and development of management practices for breast cancer.
  • Dr Wee co-chaired a Ministry-appointed committee looking into the development of Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of breast cancer in Singapore. He has been actively involved in the planning and execution of National Breast Cancer Screening Programme (BreastScreen Singapore) since its launch in 2002. He has been involved in activities of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Singapore since its inception in 1997, and had served on the committee of the Chapter of Surgeons of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
