  • Dr Tan Eng Kien is an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His special interests include intrapartum obstetrics, waterbirth, high risk obstetrics and obstetrics ultrasound imaging.
  • Dr EK Tan obtained his basic medical degree from the University of Manchester, graduating with honours, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He completed his obstetrics and gynaecology training in the United Kingdom, and is an accredited specialist in the UK and Singapore.
  • During his specialist training in Scotland, Dr EK Tan also completed the RCOG Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) in gynaecological ultrasound imaging and fetal medicine at the prestigious Queen Mother’s Hospital in Glasgow. He obtained the joint Royal College of Radiologists Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound Diploma, and is accredited by the UK Fetal Medicine Foundation to provide first trimester screening for Down syndrome through nuchal translucency assessment.
  • He has been an MOET (Management of Obstetrics Emergency and Trauma) instructor with the Advanced Life Support Group UK since 2003.
  • Dr EK Tan was previously a senior consultant, assistant professor and the residency programme director at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He has lectured and taught on obstetric emergencies in English and Chinese, in countries including the UK, Australia, New Zealand and China. He has looked after international pregnant patients from the UK, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, US, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.
