Experience
Dr Hoh Sek Tien is an ophthalmologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery, and also provides general and comprehensive ophthalmology.
Prior to joining private practice, he was a consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC).
Dr Hoh graduated from the National University of Singapore. He won a competitive grant from the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, US, to undergo subspecialty training and research. He also worked on the pathogenesis of glaucoma at the laboratory of myopia and ocular development, City University of New York, US. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
He is the earliest ophthalmologist in Singapore and Southeast Asia to use the optical coherence tomography for evaluating optic nerve damage.
Dr Hoh is a frequent invited speaker on subjects related to glaucoma and has published more than 80 scientific papers and abstracts. He has sat on the board of reviewers of international journals such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the British Journal of Ophthalmology, and is an opinion leader in glaucoma in the Asia-Pacific region.
In the past, he was a board member of the Gleneagles’ medical advisory board, chairman of its credentialing committee, chairman of its therapeutics and infection control committee, and group representative of its ophthalmology special interest group. He currently sits on the transplant ethics committee of the National Organ Transplant Unit.
Dr Hoh is a recipient of the Excellence Service Award (Gold) and the SNEC Care Sparks Award.
