Childbirth Education Workshop at Mount Elizabeth Orchard

Prepare for childbirth and your baby's arrival with personalised guidance from our maternity care team at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Orchard.

Our 1-to-1 Childbirth Education Workshop is a private, hands-on session conducted for one couple at a time, giving you the opportunity to learn at your own pace and focus on the areas that matter most to you.

Who is the childbirth education workshop for?

The workshop is designed for expectant parents who prefer a more personalised approach to preparing for childbirth and newborn care.

Unlike a group antenatal class, each workshop is conducted exclusively for one couple. You can let our maternity care team know if there are particular topics or skills you would like to spend more time on.

While the workshop follows a structured programme, the session can be tailored to your individual needs and concerns.

What will you learn?

The workshop combines education with hands-on practice to help you feel better prepared for labour, breastfeeding and caring for your newborn.

It is led by our midwife, lactation consultant and maternity ward nurses, with topics including:

Labour and delivery

  • Stages of labour
  • Pain relief options
  • Postpartum recovery essentials

Breastfeeding

  • Steps to successful breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding techniques
  • Latching and positioning
  • Ways to manage common breastfeeding challenges

Newborn care

Build confidence in essential newborn care skills through practical demonstrations, including:

  • Bathing your baby
  • Umbilical cord care
  • Soothing and comforting techniques

A personalised, hands-on experience

As the workshop is conducted with one couple at a time, there is more opportunity to ask questions, practise techniques and discuss your individual concerns with our maternity care team.

You can also share your preferred areas of focus before the workshop so that more time can be spent on topics that are particularly relevant to you.
