Experience
Dr Jayant V Iyer is an ophthalmologist at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in general ophthalmology for conditions such as cataracts, dry eyes, refractive errors and diabetic retinopathy. His subspecialty is in glaucoma.
Dr Iyer was formerly a senior consultant glaucoma surgeon at the Singapore National Eye Centre. He was also the head of its clinical and service quality department, and lead for its global ophthalmology office.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore and did his master’s there. He was fellowship-trained at Johns Hopkins University, USA. He founded and runs The Vision Mission – an NGO that aims to alleviate treatable blindness in Asia and beyond.
Dr Iyer has been conferred the APAO Distinguished Service Award, Novartis eXcellence in Vision Award and the Singapore Courage Fund Healthcare Humanity Award. He also received the SingHealth Service Star Award and the SingHealth COVID Hero Award.
