
Dr John Wong is an ophthalmologist and anterior segment surgeon.
He is experienced in managing both routine and complicated cataracts, which includes femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, subluxated cataract management, intraocular lens fixations, iris repair / implants and premium intraocular lenses. He also performs laser vision correction (LASIK / photorefractive keratectomy / SMILE) and implantable contact lens surgery.
He is currently a visiting consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He previously served as the clinician lead there for EyePACE and was the deputy lead of the ophthalmology clinic management committee.
Dr Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and did his master’s degree there. He also has a graduate diploma in family medicine. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK. As part of his subspecialty training, he completed an observership at Heidelberg University Eye Clinic / David J Apple Laboratory in Germany. This was followed by a year-long surgical fellowship in anterior segment surgery at Meir Medical Centre, Israel.
He has presented his research at international conferences and has published 14 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is regularly involved in regional educational webinars and conferences related to his subspecialty.
Dr Wong was a senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
