Dr Lam Mun San is a Consultant Infectious Disease Physician at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre with about 20 years of experience in her field. At her Mount Elizabeth and Mount Elizabeth Novena clinics, she sees patients with a variety of infections which may be due to viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites.
Dr Lam received her MBBS from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore in 1983. She underwent basic training and completed her Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine in 1988. In 1991, she was awarded a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Infectious Diseases by the Ministry of Health, Singapore and spent 2 years as a Fellow of Infectious Diseases at the renowned Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, USA. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (U.K) in 1989 and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1995.
Apart from her practices at Mount Elizabeth and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospitals, Dr Lam is also a Visiting Consultant at Singapore General Hospital. She was previously Head of the Travellers' Health & Vaccination Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and a Consultant Infectious Disease Physician with the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
As part of Dr Lam’s strong commitment to the medical arena, she serves on several boards and committees and shares her knowledge and expertise with others. Dr Lam is currently an active member of the Society of Infectious Diseases and an appointed member of the medical panel for Medical Mediation—Primary Dispute Resolution Centre of the Subordinate Court. Additionally, she has been a member of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Infection Control Committee for 10 years.
Research is important to Dr Lam and she has been an author and co-author of many publications in international peer-reviewed journals and regional and local medical journals, such as the Annals, Academy of Medicine and the Asian Infection Control Journal. Besides that, she has co-wrote guidebooks on infectious diseases and travel medicine. Furthermore, she is an ad-hoc reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal, and the Annals, Academy of Medicine.
