Dr Loong Tse Han is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical expertise lies in colorectal surgery, with a proficiency in minimally invasive techniques. He has a special interest in treating pelvic floor disorders such as faecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and rectal prolapse.
Dr Loong is a former senior consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
He graduated from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He later worked at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and was trained in minimally invasive surgery in the UK. He also worked in the colorectal surgery unit at the Western General Hospital, Scotland where he learnt more about the enhanced recovery after surgery concept.
Dr Loong was subsequently involved in research and initiatives to improve care for patients with anal warts and anal intra-epithelial neoplasia whilst at the University College Hospital, London. Following that, he returned to Singapore and did his training at Singapore General Hospital and subsequently at TTSH. He obtained his fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. At TTSH, he was involved in several initiatives to improve the quality of colonoscopy and outcomes following surgery on the colon and rectum.
Dr Loong undertook a 1-year fellowship at CHU Nantes, France, focusing on functional colorectal conditions. He brought back the expertise he had gained and established the colorectal pelvic floor clinic at TTSH to manage patients with faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, obstructed defecation and constipation.
He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years.
