Experience
Dr Lui Nai Lee is a rheumatologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in autoimmune and rheumatological conditions. These include lupus, scleroderma (connective tissue disease), vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels), Sjogren’s syndrome, inflammatory muscle diseases, various arthritis conditions, osteoporosis and soft tissue rheumatism.
Dr Lui obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2001. He then received his Master of Medicine in internal medicine and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2006.
In 2009, Dr Lui was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award to pursue subspecialty training in ankylosing spondylitis at the Toronto Western Hospital in Canada under Professor Robert Inman, a key opinion leader in spondyloarthritis. He was then elected as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore in rheumatology in 2012 and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK in 2015.
Dr Lui was formerly a consultant rheumatologist at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He was also the chief physician who spearheaded the service and research in the spondyloarthritis clinic at SGH's Autoimmunity and Rheumatology Centre. He was the programme director for the rheumatology senior residency programme and the departmental director of postgraduate education for rheumatology in SGH.
Academically, Dr Lui was an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
He is currently a member of the Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society (ASAS), an international group of experts in spondyloarthritis. He is also the medical advisor for the Singapore Ankylosing Spondylitis Club.
Dr Lui's key research interest is in the early diagnosis and treatment of spondyloarthritis. He has presented his research at international, regional and local conferences, and has published in peer-reviewed rheumatology journals. He has also been a peer reviewer in several rheumatology journals in the field of spondyloarthritis.
