Dr Ng Jing Yu is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His specialty is in colorectal surgery. He is competent in a range of minimally invasive colorectal procedures including laparoscopic, robotic assisted and transanal surgery. Beyond this, he also possesses extensive experience with laser perianal procedures such as haemorrhoids.
Before joining private practice, Dr Ng was a senior consultant and assistant professor in the division of colorectal surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH).
He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed his general surgical training in the department of surgery, NUH. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship and underwent advanced colorectal training at Sun Yat Sen Cancer Centre, Taiwan, where he trained in both robotic and advanced transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME) surgery. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Dr Ng is a lecturer of surgery for both Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He has also been involved in the administration and examining of the final Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery examinations for NUS. Prior to leaving NUH, he was the associate programme director of the general surgery programme and also helmed the colorectal surgery fellowship programme.
He is active in research and has published and reviewed numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is an executive committee member of the Singapore Colorectal Society, and a member of the International Society of Laser Proctology and the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore.
He has organised multiple advanced cadaveric workshops, mentoring younger surgeons in advanced surgical techniques.
Dr Ng received the National University Health System’s Service Excellence Award.
