Dr Calvin Ong is a general surgeon at Parkway East Hospital.
Besides general surgery, he also subspecialises in colorectal surgery. His interests are in minimally invasive cancer surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. He is also proficient in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal operations for cancer and benign disease, laparoscopic gall bladder and appendix operations, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, laparoscopic hernia repair, rectal prolapse surgery, and surgery for fistulas and piles.
Dr Ong was previously a senior consultant at Changi General Hospital.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his master’s degree there. He then completed his advanced specialist training and became a fellow with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He did his fellowship training by spending a year at St Mark’s Hospital, UK, specialising in inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Besides clinical duties, Dr Ong was a clinical lecturer for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an adjunct associate professor with Duke-NUS Medical School.
He is a member of the Singapore Colorectal Society and was in its executive committee.
