Dr Jeffrey Tan is an orthopaedic surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in lower limb reconstruction and trauma with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. This encompasses common and complex foot and ankle conditions such as sports injury, tendon disorders, flat foot, bunion, arthritis, foot and ankle trauma, complex deformity correction and various diabetic foot conditions and minimally invasive surgery. He also manages major bone fractures, fractures around the joints as well as osteoporotic fractures.
Dr Tan was formerly a senior consultant in the department of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). He currently is a visiting consultant at the hospital.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and obtained his post-graduate qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He did his advanced subspecialty training and fellowship in the division of foot and ankle surgery at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada. Upon his return from his fellowship, he spearheaded the foot and ankle reconstruction and surgery at KTPH. He also spearheaded the minimally invasive surgery and ankle arthroscopic techniques in KTPH foot and ankle service. He has been practising orthopaedic surgery for more than 18 years.
Dr Tan was a clinical assistant professor at NUS, an adjunct associate professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and the associate programme director of the orthopaedic surgery residency programme at the National Healthcare Group. He was also the chair of KTPH’s wound committee workgroup, and was involved in the multidisciplinary diabetic limb salvage programme at KTPH. He served as a regular examiner in the final Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery exams.
He has also presented at various international and local conferences. Dr Tan has published research on foot and ankle, trauma, orthopaedic injuries and a book chapter. He has made podium presentation of his work at various international and local conferences, and served as instructor for various cadaveric workshop and courses. He is also active in the local AO Foundation as faculty.
Dr Tan is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
He is a recipient of several Service Champion awards.
