Dr Edwin Tan is an orthopaedic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in sports and reconstructive surgery, with a special interest in the upper limb and knee.
He has performed more than 1,000 surgeries, and manages both complex and common orthopaedic conditions.
He is experienced in performing reverse shoulder arthroplasty, a surgical procedure for complex shoulder problems, and has managed a high volume of cases requiring this surgery.
Dr Tan was a former consultant at the department of orthopaedic surgery at Singapore General Hospital.
He was conferred the title of adjunct assistant professor in Duke-NUS Medical School, and was also appointed to various positions at the department and institution. These included Department Quality Officer, the SingHealth Procedural Safety Workgroup, and Focus Area Subcommittee in patient safety, care transition and supervision.
He was also faculty for residency training and courses including AOTrauma Advanced Principles of Fracture Management Course, and Advanced Arthroscopy of the Shoulder and Knee.
He has travelled around the Asia-Pacific region to perform surgeries. From knee ligament reconstructions of national athletes in Papua New Guinea to joint replacement surgeries in China, Dr Tan has aided patients in returning to their level of competitive sports and quality of life.
