Any form of aerobic exercise is good for the heart. If jogging or swimming isn’t for you, try brisk walking or simply climbing stairs. Aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes, 5 times a week.
Try a gradual build-up of low impact exercises, such as walking. Start with one session a week and build it up to 5 times a week over 2 – 3 months.
Don’t push it. Extreme exercising is self-defeating, adding stress to your heart, so aim for a moderate workout. If getting physical is all new to you, check with your doctor before starting. And once you begin, build up slowly.
