Dr Hope Ang is an anaesthesiologist at both Mount Elizabeth Novena and Parkway East Hospitals, Singapore.
His specialties are anaesthesiology, chronic pain, hyperbaric and diving medicine. He is proficient in the use of both ultrasound and fluoroscopy techniques to alleviate acute and chronic pain issues such as neck and back pain, shoulder, hip and knee pain, facial pain, complex regional pain syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes, as well as visceral and autonomic-mediated pain syndromes. He also performs regenerative platelet-rich-therapy injections, and is experienced in the management of cancer and palliative pain.
Dr Ang was the head of the acute pain service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was previously a visiting consultant at the Singapore General Hospital’s Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Centre. He is currently an honorary visiting consultant at Dover Park Hospice.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore. He is accredited as a Singapore Armed Forces’ consultant in diving and hyperbaric medicine. He has been practising medicine for more than 18 years.
Dr Ang held several medical leadership positions during his military medicine career, including deputy chief naval medical officer. In this role, he established medical innovation and health promotion projects, as well as assisted in the planning and execution of medical operations for the Republic of Singapore Navy. He is the medical director of Red Dot Air Ambulance, where he leads a medical team in the transport and repatriation of critically ill patients across international borders to obtain required medical care.
Besides his clinical work, he is a clinical lecturer and EnRICH clinical mentor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chien School of Medicine. He also mentors residents in the National Healthcare Group’s anaesthesiology residency programme.
